Free SafeTALKSĀ
To date Yams have run five free SafeTALK Courses. Our members and the public have taken part in this training. This course originated in Canada and has been successful in helping participants recognise, understand and overcome both the verbal and non verbal signs of those suffering from thoughts of Suicide. YAMS are providing this certified training to anyone free of charge through the NHS Health Services.
This subject has become such a taboo and the fundamental principle of this course is to teach us to normalise the āsā word, because the truth is, suicide effects everyone and 1 in 10 of us in Scotland are thinking about suicide right now! Some will follow through and complete suicide and others wonāt. But notice the main word change in that sentenceā¦.Complete, not Commit. Suicide is not a crime, it is not something to be ashamed or embarrassed about, itās not something we should be scared to talk about and it certainly is not something to be underestimated or judged. You are important, your worries are important to us, you are always welcome at YAMS and you will always be treated with respect and dignity. YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS. ONE DAY AT A TIME. DONāT CHOOSE A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO A TEMPORARY PROBLEM. With support you can get through anything and we want to be there for you every step of the way.
We are providing further training which is always open to the public. Check our Facebook pageĀ for dates or contact us:

When your heart is breaking for someone who is broken but your words canāt reach them and your love canāt save them, ask the angels to go where you cannot. To whisper in their hearts what their ears canāt hear: āWe will not give up on you. Donāt give up on yourself.ā ā Sandra Kring
